Introduction
The Bullmastiff as the name suggests as a breed developed by combining strains of Bulldogs and Mastiffs. The word bull mastiff had been used in a generic sense for such combinations. But a specific breed with defining features began to be developed only in the late 18-hundreds with particular traits from the English Mastiff and the olde English Bulldog.
History
Bullmastiff is a brave and obedient dog. The Bullmastiff is supposed to be 40% old English bulldog and 60% English mastiff proved excellent for this job. In1900s Breeders began to focus on refining the bullmastiffs, rather than continuing to cross the two old breeds and its early days in keeping with its guard dog duties. Dark brindle coloured bull Mastiffs were preferred for better camouflage, but over time fawn and red shades became popular too.
Body Structure
The Bullmastiff is known for its strength and alertness. They have a large skull and short muzzle. The neck is very muscular — the body compact. The coat is short and dense. White spot can be seen on the chest in Bullmastiff.
Grooming
The bullmastiff requires very little coat care. An occasional bath preserved coat. It’s short but drooping years can gather debris which can cause infection. This makes regular cleaning necessary, just regular trimming of nails and brushing of teeth is enough.
The most notable trainable bull mastiff is its fitness to be a guard dog. The Bullmastiff is not trustworthy of new people. They are generally silent and protective of its home and family. It is a good-natured dog with kids, and other pets are not particularly playful.
Training
The Bullmastiff is easy to train a dog, but they require a firm hand because of its stubborn nature. Some of the most common inheritable diseases are lymphoma cancer, retinal atrophy, hip or elbow dysplasia, arthritis, and bloat. A dog with a majestic appearance, the Bullmastiff is strong, intelligent and gentle and he is a great family companion. Bullmastiff needs low maintenance, and you have a perfect dog for city living.
